Harper High School was the first “turn around” school that CPS worked on. The “turn around” process consists of hiring new staff and remodeling the school. Harper was featured on Oprah and was compared to Nequa Valley High School in Naperville. The comparison wasn’t a tie. Harper lost. This made teachers, students and CPS administration go to the drawing board and fix up Harper High School. Today the school is doing way better than they were a few ago. Progress is a process. Harper will get there one day! Go Cardinals!!

Chicago Public School is one of the largest school districts in American with 675 schools, over 404,000 students, and over 40,000 staff members. Their slogan or motto located on their website is Educate. Inspire. Transform.
I know numerious people who grew up in CPS. CPS is notorious and sometimes not in a good way. To be one of the biggest public school systems in the nation it sure doesn’t treat its students fairly. Some of these schools are really out of date, they closed some and some are superb. I’m sure that CPS is working to get better and I would love to be apart of this chance. The main reason why I came to DePaul was to work with CPS. I want to teach in CPS and one day be the President of CPS. I have great plans that I would love to share with all the teachers and administrators so that these students succeed and live up to the mission of Chicago Public School.

Hello, my name is Chautel Wilson and I’m currently in my second year of college at DePaul Univeristy in Chicago. I love it here, the people are amazing, the teachers are inspiring, the dorms are cool and I’ve meet my two best friends here. DePaul has changed my life in many ways. I’ve grown up and I am a different person that the girl who first walked on campus in August. However, one thing that DePaul has not changed was my desire to become an educator. If anything DePaul has encouraged and inspired me more to become a great teacher. This blog is more than a project for SEC 363, its my journey, my life, my wonderful life.
